Macri Masters Mountaineer Nationals with FAST

Dillsburg, Pennsylvania'a Anthony Macri made his Ti22 Performance FAST on Dirt initial appearance a winning one Saturday at the newly reopened West Virginia Motor Speedway. He made it known he was the driver to beat early in the night with overall quick time in the J&S Fabrication, C&D Rigging, Valley Supply, JVI, Randy Shearer Plumbing & Heating #39M.

A total of 23 winged 410 sprint cars were on hand at the red clay 5/8 mile track. New track promoter, Cody Watson, did a great job getting the facility in great shape for a return to racing and a very large crowd packed the hillside seating area to watch the areas drivers brave enough to tackle the high speeds.

Quick timers in the heat race groups were Jac Haudenschild in group one with a 18.024, Macri in group 2 with a 17.306 and Cale Conley paced group 3 with a 17.519. Heat races were very cleanly run events with Haudenschild, Macri and Jordan Ryan taking the 8 lap victories.

Being only the second event after many years dormant, track management reworked the race track prior to the main event. Both the FAST and WVMS appreciate the patience of the teams and fans, and the result was a much faster and safer racing surface for the 25 lap main event.

After a 6 car redraw, it was Macri who drew the pole position with local favorite Cale Conley alongside. 2019 FAST champion, Cole Duncan, would roll off 3rd with the 6M of Jac Haudenschild flanking him. Row 3 found current tour point leader Gary Taylor in the Seeling 97 with Jordan Ryan outside.

At the drop of the green flag, Cale Conley out dragged Macri to turn one and grabbed the early lead. That lead did not last long as Macri got by on lap 5 to show the way with Conley and Haudenschild in tow. The race's only incident was a red flag working lap 7 as Bradley Ashford's car was slowing, Wayne McPeek and Brian Paulus became tangled with him eliminating all 3 from the event and sending Paulus into the inside wall and flipping. All 3 were out of their machines and okay.

Following the red flag, Anthony Macri proceeded to put on a masterful drive in the final 18 laps as he motored away from the field with only lapped traffic to temporarily slow his pace. He was able to lap all but three of the other cars. Cale Conley ran a great race to finish in the runner-up spot with Cole Duncan completing the podium. Fourth place Gary Taylor was the final car on the lead lap while Lee Jacobs rounded out the top 5.

Jac Haudenschild ran 3rd for most of the event in the Jamie Miller owned #6M, but engine failure claimed him on lap 18. He was able to get off the track without a caution, ending a fine run. Haudenschild and Miller took home one of two "Hard Luck" awards. They won $200 on top of their earnings courtesy of Valerie Myers! We all thank Valerie for supporting the race and the MANY race fans who came out!

The rest of the top 10 were a pair of Pennsylvania invaders, Danny Dietrich and Bradley Howard, followed by Dean Jacobs in his nephews 18J, his son Trey Jacobs in the Muth 101 and RJ Jacobs in the Ryan Prosser19. Nate Reeser in the 83x finished 11th and took the Hard Charger award courtesy of The Bridge Restaurant in Sidney, Ohio.

The FAST on Dirt tour returns to West Virginia Motor Speedway for a two day show August 6-7 which will feature a $5,000 payday on Friday and a $20,000 to win main event on Saturday! Next up for the FAST tour is this Thursday, May 27th which will also be a $20,000 to win payday for the K-C Classic at Atomic Speedway. After Atomic, the tour rolls into its old home, the historic Fremont Speedway, on Saturday, May 29th.
