Historic Weekend Ahead at Montpelier & Kokomo

We are just days away from one of the most anticipated weekends of the 2019 race season. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series will kick off a doubleheader for traditional wingless cars at Montpelier Motor Speedway on Saturday. A day later, the FAST on Dirt winged 410 sprint cars will join the wingless BOSS drivers at Kokomo Speedway for a historic first time twin billing.

Saturday's event at Montpelier Motor Speedway will be the second try at a spring date for BOSS. Last year, this event rained out. But the fall events has never failed to produce a 40 car field or more. Track and series officials expect another large turnout this Saturday, ready to attack the 1/4 mile clay oval. Pit gates will open at 3 pm with hot laps at 5 and racing action set to begin at 6:30 pm. General admission is $20 and kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult. Pit passes will be $30. Transponders will be provided free of charge with paid pit pass. This is a standard purse BOSS event with $1,500 to win and $250 to start the A-Main. Also, $100 is guaranteed to any car who competes in the program yet fails to start the main event. Complete BOSS standard purse is: 1500, 900, 700, 600, 500, 450, 400, 375, 350, 325, 300, 290, 280, 270, 260, 250, 250, 250, 250, 250. There are no mufflers necessary for this event.

On Sunday, the BOSS drivers will move on to Kokomo Speedway where they will be joined by their winged counterparts, the FAST on Dirt winged 410 sprint cars. Pit gates will be open all day, but the pits will be cleared and pit pass sales begin at 3 pm. Hot laps are scheduled for 6 pm with racing immediately following. The twin sprint car divisions will be the only ones on the card, so we anticipate a swift moving program to get everyone out at a reasonable time. General admission for this event will be $25 while children 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $30 and that also includes transponder rental for the race teams. The FAST on Dirt purse is as follows: 3000, 1500, 1000, 700, 600, 550, 500, 475, 450, 425, 400, 380, 360, 340, 320, 300, 300, 300, 300, 300. There is also $100 paid to any car who competes in the program and fails to start the main event. The BOSS portion of the program will pay $2,000 to win while the balance of the field will be the standard purse (same as Montpelier). Mufflers are NOT required for this race.

For winged cars only, remember, flat tops wings only with a maximum 2" wickerbill. Weight rule with driver post race is 1400#. Finally, tires are mandatory 4 corner Hoosiers. Left rears must be the "H" series while right rears can be "H" or "Medium" or "W18". You do not have to run the same right rear all night.

Race teams needing a place to stay, don't forget, the official host hotel is the Super 8 in Gas City, Indiana. The standard rate has been lowered from $129 to $99 if you mention you are with the BOSS or FAST racing series. They have a large parking lot with several restaurants nearby.
