Roepke gets 1st FAST win of 2018 at Limaland

Saturday, July 14, 2018

LIMA, Ohio – The JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series Presented by Engine Pro has always had a nice mixture of young up-and-coming drivers and veteran talent. It was the veterans who showed they still can pilot a sprint car Friday, July 13 at Limaland Motorsports Park. Elmore, Ohio’s Alvin "The Ripper" Roepke, a former 410 track champion at Attica Raceway Park and winner of the Brad Doty Classic, held off veteran John Ivy to take the A-main win in the second appearance of the FAST series in 2018 at the quarter-mile bullring.

To add to the “cool factor” - while most teams utilize enclosed trailers in today’s sprint car world, Roepke still tows his NAPA Auto Parts backed machine on an open trailer behind his van.

Roepke and Sandusky, Ohio’s Caleb Griffith led the field to green for the 25-lap FAST feature with Roepke gaining the advantage. The only caution of the event came on lap three for Kevin Mingus who spun in turn two. When the green reappeared Roepke continued to lead but as the laps wound down, Fremont, Ohio’s John Ivy – a FAST winner last week at Waynesfield Raceway Park – closed. Roepke held his familiar bottom line and held off Ivy’s challenge for his first win of 2018. Ivy settled for second with Jamie Miller, who has six total wins in 2018 including the early season FAST event at Limaland, rounding out the podium. Fremont, Ohio’s Seth Schneider and Ashland, Ohio’s Tyler Street completed the top five.

With his third place finish Miller will maintain his spot atop the FAST point standings over Ivy and Moore as the series heads to Attica Raceway Park on Friday, July 20 for a $1,000-to-win affair thanks to Griff’s Engines.

The All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads FAST 410 Championship Series Presented by Ohio Logistics gets back to action with a double-header weekend Friday, July 20 at Attica Raceway Park and Saturday, July 21 at Fremont Speedway.
