Midweek FAST Action Update: FAST Champs Crowned, Byron Reed Claims Unprecedented Fourth Title

FREMONT, Ohio (September 20, 2016) - Monclova, Ohio’s Byron Reed ended his 2016 Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service championship chase with a ‘bang’ on Friday night, September 16; clinching his fourth FAST 410 Series championship with a victory during the series finale at the Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. Reed started on the pole and dominated the 30-lap program, his ninth total victory of the season thus far.

Reed, who scored a $5,000 payday for his FAST 410 Series finale victory, as well as $10,000 for his FAST 410 Series title, recorded a grand total of seven victories during his 2016 campaign on the FAST trail, three of which at “The Track That Action Built.” Broc Martin, the 2016 Fremont Speedway track champion, finished second during the FAST 410 Series finale on September 16, followed by Craig Mintz, Duane Zablocki, and Jody Keegan.

“Congratulations to Byron Reed and his entire crew on another championship,” Rich Farmer said, FAST Series promoter. “He had an impressive year and it certainly paid off. I’d like to take the time to thank each and every team who dedicated their time and efforts toward completing our 2016 schedule. My staff and I enjoyed the competition and we certainly enjoyed watching our series grow. We are already working toward bigger and better things for 2017.”

Fremont, Ohio’s Paul Weaver clinched his first-ever JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro title by finishing second during the FAST finale on September 16. Weaver scored three victories during his title run, two of which during action on “travel dates” at Limaland Motorsports Park and Waynesfield Raceway Park. He will receive a minimum of $2,000 for his FAST 305 Series championship.

Fellow Fremont, Ohio, native John Ivy scored the $2,000 FAST finale victory at Fremont Speedway, followed by Weaver, Nate Dussel, Matt Foos, and Jason Keckler.

“Paul Weaver’s championship didn’t come easy, that is for sure,” Farmer explained. “He was able to win at three different race tracks and that says a lot about his team and his ability. Hopefully the FAST 305 Series teams enjoyed their expanded schedule. We wanted to give teams the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of new fans and potential sponsors. We want to continue that tradition in 2017.”

News and information regarding the 2016 FAST Series banquet will be posted in the near future. Please stay tuned for additional details.

“We’re already working hard to make next season bigger and better than 2016.”
