Midweek FAST Action Update: Byron Reed Gets FAST 410 Win #2, Weaver on the Board with FAST 305 Sprints, Points Updated
By FAST Press:
FREMONT, Ohio (June 1, 2016) - For the second time in 2016, Byron Reed scored a victory with the Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service at Fremont Speedway, only this time, it was record breaking.
Reed, the defending FAST 410 Series champion, scored $5,000 for his FAST victory at “The Track That Action Built” on Saturday night, May 28. The $5,000-to-win purse was the largest in FAST 410 Series history, raising the bar for local racers in northwest Ohio. Reed, who started fifth on the grid, held off Gary Taylor and Oklahoma invader Brady Bacon on his way to victory lane. Craig Mintz and California native Carson Macedo, current teammates for the Mintz racing stable, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
“Congratulations to Byron Reed and his team,” said Rich Farmer, FAST Series promoter. “He’s been one of the best in our area for a long time. That was a big payday and we’re proud to hand it out. We will do it again soon.”
After four contested events, Byron Reed is the only repeat winner during Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service competition. Despite earning two victories, Reed still finds himself second in the updated FAST championship standings, with only five points separating himself and current leader Craig Mintz. Chris Andrews, a one-time winner during FAST action thus far in 2016, currently sits third in the updated championship, followed by Stuart Brubaker and Jody Keegan.
Fremont Speedway also hosted a round of JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro competition during Memorial Day weekend, holding a $1,000-to-win program on Sunday, May 29. Paul Weaver was the victor, his first of the 2016 season, joining John Ivy and Bobby Clark as one-time winners with the FAST 305 Series in 2016. Weaver held off Steve Rando on May 29 at Fremont, followed by Jamie Miller, Ricky Peterson, and Jason Keckler.
The FAST 305 Series continues to prove its competitiveness with three drivers tied for the top spot in the current JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro standings. After three contested events, Nate Dussel, Bobby Clark, and Paul Weaver currently stand at a three-way tie at the top of the championship chase. Just behind the trio of former FAST winners and champions is Steve Rando, currently fourth in the title hunt and only seven points behind the top-three.
“We have the most competitive 305 sprint car class in the country, hands down,” explained Rich Farmer. “That championship will go down to the final stretch. The top spot may flip-flop five or six times this year. We're all excited to see how things unfold.”
The Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service, and JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro, will continue competition in two weekends, revisiting Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway. The FAST 410 Series will visit Attica, Ohio, on Friday night, June 10, followed by a trip back to “The Track That Action Built” in Fremont, Ohio, on Saturday, June 11. The FAST 305 Series will only be in action at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 10.
