Midweek FAST Action Update: Mother Nature Washes Away Recent Weekend;
FAST 410 Series and FAST 305 Series Action Continues on May 13-14
FAST Series Press:
FREMONT, Ohio (May 4, 2016) - Mother Nature continues to be a burden on the 2016 FAST Series season. A full weekend of Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service competition, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, was washed away by wet weather, raising the weather toll to four nights out of six scheduled programs. In addition, the JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro also suffered from weather conflicts, losing the first scheduled event of the season on April 22. Despite the wet weather, the season must go on.
“Not a lot we can do about it,” said Rich Farmer, FAST Series promoter. “We just kinda have to deal with it. We’ve been lucky in some prior seasons with weather, but I guess this year we have to take our lumps. Business will go on as usual. Also like prior seasons, these events will not be rescheduled, so racers must take advantage of the remaining dates. Hopefully good weather lingers ahead and we can get the rest of the season in the books unscathed.”
The Kistler Racing Products FAST 410 Series presented by K S Sales & Service, as well as the JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Series presented by Engine Pro, will resume competition on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14. Each series will make visits to Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway during their weekend agendas, beginning with the Attica highbanks on Friday, May 13, followed by a trip to the “Track That Action Built” on Saturday, May 14.
Byron Reed will lead the FAST 410 Series into battle on May 13. Reed, the most recent FAST 410 Series main event winner at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, April 23, stands on top of the current standings with 295 points; a near perfect score. The defending series champion finished second during the 2016 FAST season opener on April 16 and holds a 12-point advantage over fellow former series champion Craig Mintz. Broc Martin, Caleb Griffith, and Jody Keegan round out the current top-five positions in the $10,000-to-win, championship standings. Carson Macedo, a California native who will pilot a Mintz Motorsports team entry on select occasions, earned the first FAST 410 Series victory of 2016, passing Byron Reed on the final lap at Fremont Speedway on April 16.
John Ivy is the lone winner thus far in 2016 during FAST 305 Series competition. The Fremont native is also the current championship point leader, holding a five-point advantage over Dustin Stroup, followed by Seth Schneider, Nate Dussel, and Dustin Dinan.
“I think we have the making for a very competitive season in 2016,” said Rich Farmer. “We have 16 full-time FAST 410 Series drivers and 25 full-time FAST 305 Series drivers; that is incredible. The level of support for our series is almost unbelievable. We are all more than excited to see how the season unfolds.”
